Animal of the Month: Pandas
We're going for more well-known animals this month to encourage participation. This month we want to see work of both Giant Pandas and Red Pandas, both of which are endangered species.
Both species are greatly threatened due deforestation and poaching, and their low birth rates make breeding more difficult.
"The giant panda is among the world's most adored and protected rare animals" (wikipedia.org) - so let's see what wonderful artwork you can create! If you mention in the artist's comments that they are endangered then we can make more people aware of the threats to these enchanting mammals.
How can you help them?
You can adopt Giant or Red Pandas from various charity organisations, such as the WWF; where the money you pay will go towards conservation projects. This could include breeding programmes, stopping poaching, and creating habitats/growing bamboo.
PaintTheSkyYellow shares some information and sites where you can donate on her environmental blog: katyasarria.wordpress.com/2010…
Where can I submit my deviations?
We have created a new folder specifically for this monthly event.
Submit any works you create here: endangered-animals.deviantart.…

Reminder.
Guys; please be sure to submit animals that are endangered to the group. ONLY endangered animals to the group. We are getting submissions of domestic animals, and this is not allowed.
To help make our job easier, please, pay more attention to work you are submitting to this group.
Not sure if people are hitting submit to all their groups, or what, but this issue needs to be addressed.
We will no longer tell you why your work is declined if you submit a piece of a animal that is not endangered. I might shut the gallery down for a a day or two so we can do some cleaning in the group. If this happens, just be patient and wait a day or so for

Animal of the Month - March 2013
The Animal of the Month is back! Seeing that many wanted to bring back the important event, it is back! With that said, I apologize if I end up doing anything different from the previous founder. Just let me know guys, and I will attempt to fix whatever it may be. With that said, our last animal of the month, judging by the journal entries....was August of 2012. That animal was the Blue Whale.
